Trump Is Right and He’s Done Republicans A Huge Service

Donald Trump’s comments about illegal immigrants seem to be dominating the news lately. The media have made it the story and have taken great glee in reporting about the backlash The Donald is receiving for what he said. Macy’s, Serta mattresses, Univision, NASCAR and NBC have all either cut ties with Trump or announced they will be terminating agreements with him. My first thought after reading all that was to wonder how in the world Donald Trump has his own line of Serta mattresses. Who would want that? But I digress. The Donald doesn’t seem to care about all the damage, saying on Fox & Friends, “I think it’s bad for my brand. I don’t care. You know maybe I’m leading in the polls, but this is certainly not good. I lose customers. I lose people.”

But what exactly was it he said that has made him the target of all this backlash? I’ve seen it misquoted on a few […] → Keep reading

Oklahoma State Senator Clark Jolley: Political Hack

Oklahoma State Senator Clark Jolley has done an about-face and voted in support of HB 3399, which removes the legislative mandate requiring adoption of Common Core State Standards. The measure calls for the State Board of Education to develop Oklahoma standards. Jolley’s reversal comes after public backlash against Common Core led the House to pass the measure removing the mandate. The Senate Education Committee had to be dragged kicking and screaming to the table, but approved it for consideration by the Senate, which passed it 37-10.

Senator Jolley was a driving force behind bringing Common Core to Oklahoma, authoring the legislation in 2010 that implemented it. I have read numerous complaints from parents and others that Jolley and other legislators completely ignored their concerns about Common Core. Jolley and Senate Education Committee Chairman John Ford, also a Common Core supporter, killed bills that would have examined the cost of Common Core before they could even have a hearing before the […] → Keep reading

Jeb Bush to Establishment: I’m One of You

It’s becoming apparent that Jeb Bush has decided to run for President. He’s been the GOP establishment’s top choice since Chris Christie destroyed his own chances with his childish bridge-closing scandal. And now Bush is signaling to the establishment that he’s willing to play ball with them and ignore the desires of the conservatives. Last Friday he made a speech to business leaders in Florida and said that illegal immigrants are “risk takers” who embody the entrepreneurial spirit of America. This has to be music to the ears of people like John Boehner and John McCain, both of whom are pushing strongly for immigration reform, which is just code for legalizing illegal immigrants.

Miami Herald – Bush has advocated for pathways to citizenship and residency for illegal immigrants, enhanced border security and immigrant tracking technology and an emphasis on admitting immigrants based on the nation’s needs, not family relationships with current U.S. citizens.

Bush said immigrants capture the entrepreneurial spirit […] → Keep reading
