Confidence In the Federal Government Hits Record Lows

Recently conducted polls by Gallup show that Americans confidence in the Federal government is lower than ever before. Only 49% have a great deal or fair amount of confidence that the Federal government can handle international problems. That’s two point below the previous low of 51% recorded in 2007. And only 42% have a great deal or fair amount of confidence in the Federal government in handling problems here at home, which is one point below the previous low of 43% recorded in 2011.

 

The most interesting numbers, though, were the ones broken down into Democrats, Republicans and Independents. While the numbers show an obvious shift in confidence based on the current occupant of the White House, there is one number that appears lower than one might expect. Compare the changing numbers of Democrats for the international problems with the changing numbers for domestic problems.
