Last week the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church voted 310-303 to sell stock in Caterpillar, Hewlett-Packard and Motorola Solutions in order to divest their investments from corporations they deem to be supportive of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank. The press release from the Presbyterian Church said the three companies in question are alleged to be engaging in “non-peaceful pursuits.” There have been previous attempts at the General Assembly to pass the divestment but the vote always failed until this year. The Presbyterians are now the most prominent religious group in the United States to use divestment as a protest against the Israeli occupation and its policies toward Palestinians. Although their press release attempts to claim otherwise, by divesting from Israel the Presbyterians are symbolically aligning themselves with Hamas. The same Hamas that continually launches rockets into Israel and that just kidnapped and murdered three Israeli youths.
The press release also states that before […] → Keep reading

With so much having already been written about Benghazi I have been hesitant to post about it, but I stumbled across something very interesting that could come into play when the Select Committee begins investigating not only what happened at Benghazi on September 11, 2012, but the cover up that followed and the continued attempts by the Obama administration to hide documents and information from Congress and the American people. A former elected official I follow on Twitter who appears to have contacts inside the Republican caucus in Congress has said the Jurney v. MacCracken Supreme Court decision in 1935 will be playing a role in the upcoming investigation. After reading about the case I can certainly see where this decision could have an impact on the proceedings. With former prosecutor Rep. Trey Gowdy running the committee I have every confidence he will use every possible leverage to get at the truth and this decision by the Court could […] → Keep reading

The United States Embassy in Prague has been financing a project run by a Muslim Advocacy Group, the goal of which is to promote Islam in public elementary and secondary schools across the Czech Republic. The project is called Muslims in the Eyes of Czech Schoolchildren and has been authorized by the Czech Ministry of Education to organize lectures and seminars aimed at “teaching Czech schoolchildren about Islamic beliefs and practices” and “fighting stereotypes and prejudices about Muslims.”
This is being reported by the Gatesone Institute, an International Policy Council chaired by former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton.
Gatesone Institute – The group’s website says the first phase of the project involves “analyzing the accuracy of the information about Islam in Czech textbooks on history, geography and social sciences, and mapping the level of teaching about Islam in Czech grammar schools and other secondary schools.”
The second phase of the project involves the implementation of a three-level […] → Keep reading

Baseball Hall of Famer and home run king Hank Aaron was speaking yesterday at an event celebrating his record-setting home run and he took the opportunity to compare Republicans who oppose Barack Obama to the Ku Klux Klan. After saying that Republicans are hindering Obama’s job performance he said, “Sure, this country has a black president, President Obama is left with his foot stuck in the mud from all the Republicans with the way he’s treated. The bigger difference is that back then they had hoods. Now they have neckties and starched shirts.”
The real racists are the people like Hank Aaron who believe that it isn’t possible to oppose Obama for his actions without being a racist. I would ask Aaron and those like him, does this mean that when you opposed George W. Bush that you did so based solely on his white skin, which makes you a racist? Is that what these people truly believe, that political […] → Keep reading

It sounds like something I’d expect to see on The Onion, but this is apparently true. The Pentagon spends around $300,000 per year studying the body language of Vladimir Putin and other world leaders. Seriously. Next I’ll be expecting to read that they’re paying someone to do handwriting analysis and palm reading.
National Journal – The Defense Department is spending about $300,000 a year studying the body language of Russian President Vladimir Putin and other world leaders, Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, said Friday.
The findings haven’t been used to help decipher the close-to-the-vest Russian leader during the ongoing tensions over Ukraine, Kirby said. “The reports are given right to the Office of Net Assessment, and as I understand it, that is where they stay,” he said.
Kirby didn’t know who specifically had seen the reports but said that Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel hasn’t read the studies. “I can tell you for sure that […] → Keep reading

Frustrated with President Obama’s continual changes or refusals to enforce laws passed by Congress, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) has sponsored the ENFORCE the Law Act, which would allow Congress to sue the president in federal court. Rep. Gowdy said the law is designed to curb Obama’s abuse of presidential authority, most notably his frequent changes to Obamacare. With Harry Reid still in control of the Senate it’s highly unlikely the bill would ever reach Obama’s desk, but he promised to veto it if it got that far. Obama also threatened to veto a bill introduced by Rep. Don DeSantis (R-FL) that would require the administration to explain the decision to not enforce laws when the decision is based on a policy instead of constitutional concerns. Rep. DeSantis said the American people deserve to know exactly what laws the Obama administration is refusing to enforce and why. Obama’s stated reasons for the veto threats is that the bills “violate the separation […] → Keep reading

The big push by the Democrats to increase the minimum wage is designed to do two things: Placate the lower income class, who already mostly support the Democrats, and make the unions happy. But in reality, increasing the minimum wage is nothing but a job killer. Obama and the Democrats tout an increase from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour and Obama has announced he will be issuing an executive order setting the minimum wage for workers covered by new federal contracts to $10.10 an hour. What he neglects to tell anyone, however, is that this will only affect around ten percent of the 2.2 million federal contract workers, since most already make more than $10.10 an hour. Also, it won’t take effect until 2015 and will only affect new federal contracts, not existing ones. All in all, it is not the big change that Obama is making it out to be.
Obama isn’t the only one advocating for an […] → Keep reading

After watching President Obama’s State of the Union address this evening it struck me what a sham this annual fiasco has become. What was originally intended to be information given from the president to the Congress has turned into a political sideshow. Celebrities attend as guests of Congressmen and the media takes glee in reporting who will be attending. One might almost expect Billy Crystal to step out from behind the curtain to announce who the next presenter will be. The president and first lady also have their own guests in the gallery; people they use for sob stories or to point to as successes for their programs. The carnival atmosphere is sickening as the Congress gathers ’round to hear the president tout his supposed successes, outline his agenda, make threats and pander to the electorate. With every other sentence drawing a standing ovation from one party or the other the address meant to provide the Congress with information has […] → Keep reading

If things went as they should, President Obama’s State of the Union address to the nation this evening would be just a bit different than what he plans to say:
Mr. Speaker, Mr. Vice President, Members of Congress, fellow citizens.
Tonight, I come before you to outline the reasons why the state of our union is poor. Very poor. I place blame on no one but myself. My policies have destroyed our economy, made unemployment skyrocket and raised our national debt by more than fifty percent.
For more than a year now I have lied to you about the events that transpired at our embassy in Benghazi. I knew within two hours that it was a terrorist attack but I ordered our military to stand down and, as a result, our ambassador and three other Americans were brutally murdered. I knew if the truth was known about my failure to act that it would severely harm my reelection so I […] → Keep reading
