I didn’t want Brett Kavanaugh. When President Trump announced his nomination to the Supreme Court in early July I was hoping he would pick Amy Coney Barrett. After looking at their records and their writings, it appeared to me and many others that Barrett would be more conservative on the court than Kavanaugh. But, Trump seems to have caved to the veiled threats from Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) not to support a nominee whom they believed might one day vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. So we got Kavanaugh.
Throughout the confirmation process for Kavanaugh, I was lukewarm on the events and the nominee. It was reported that Collins and Murkowski had put their stamp of approval on the nomination as ‘acceptable,’ which meant to me that they felt abortion would remain safe with Kavanaugh on the court. Whether or not that is true could take years to play out before a case comes before the court that has the potential to overturn the most tragic ruling in our nation’s history. Whether or not Collins and Murkowski believe the baby-killing will be allowed to continue unabated, it is clear the Democrats do not believe it. Otherwise, the events of the last twelve days would not have happened.
Unless you’ve been living in a cave you’re well aware of the accusations of misconduct that have been leveled against Brett Kavanaugh. A woman named Christine Blasey Ford has accused Kavanaugh of groping her at a party at a house somewhere in Maryland, sometime in 1982. She isn’t sure how she got there, how she got home, whose house it was or any other important details. The few names she has come up with as people who were also there have all said they were not at any such party, never saw Kavanaugh behave in the manner in which she has accused him, and they have absolutely no idea what she is talking about.
Despite all this, the media and the Democrats have all convicted Kavanaugh and are feverishly working on his political execution. And not just a quick, dispassionate execution. They are torturing the man and his wife and his daughters, seeking to completely destroy his career, his reputation, his future, and everything he has accomplished. All based on an ambiguous accusation from thirty-five years ago, for which no details or supporting evidence or witnesses can be established.
Who needs evidence when the man could one day vote to overturn Roe v. Wade? Priorities!
Due process means nothing to these people. Innocent until proven guilty means nothing to these people.
And now, with the accusation from Ford falling apart, the Democrats have trotted out another ambiguous accusation against Kavanaugh, that he may have exposed himself to a college classmate, decades ago at a party. The report in The New Yorker buried in the 10th paragraph that the media could not confirm “with other eyewitnesses that Kavanaugh was present at the party.” The ‘reporting’ on this slime is so bad that even The New York Times passed on this ridiculousness.
With each accusation (more to come?) the Democrats make more and more demands. An FBI investigation… delay the hearing… cancel the vote… It’s obvious to anyone with a brain bigger than an acorn that the goal here is to delay. Delay, delay, delay until after the midterm elections, at which time the Democrats hope to have the majority in the House or at least the Senate, at which time they will reject Kavanaugh completely and demand a nominee from Trump who has makes Hillary Clinton look like a conservative by comparison.
Naturally, the lefties in the country are completely on board with these shameful tactics, as they also know that the goal here is to protect abortion. “Believe her!” they shout. Why? Why should we? There isn’t one shred of contemporaneous evidence that backs up either one of these absurd allegations.
I have wondered how many of the people who are backing the Democrats in this travesty have sons. If a woman one day accuses their son of groping her more than three decades ago, but can’t say where, when, or who else was there or provide anything to back up her claim, would they automatically believe their son to be guilty of sexual assault and approve of having his career and reputation ruined based on a flimsy, unsubstantiated accusation? I feel tremendously sorry for any man who has a parent choosing to believe Ford because it means they would have to also believe the same baseless accusation against him.
What I find most disgusting about this entire debacle is that the Senators who have publicly convicted and condemned Brett Kavanaugh refuse to turn their judgment on their own, even in cases where it has been highly warranted. Ted Kennedy let a woman drown in his car while he went home and went to sleep. Cory Booker has actually written about his high school days when he groped a girl. Al Franken resigned after a photo of him groping a woman was made public. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) was accused of having sex with underage prostitutes. Bill Clinton has been accused of rape and multiple incidents of groping. All Democrats.
Wait a second, I thought the accusations were enough! Why aren’t these people considered to be guilty?! Ah, they’re all Democrats. The famous double standard.
Brett Kavanaugh has undergone six FBI background investigations from 1993 to 2018. Not once in any of those investigations were any claims unearthed of improper behavior or any kind of misconduct.
Back in July, I didn’t want Brett Kavanaugh and I was not pleased with his nomination. Now, after all the despicable tactics by the Democrats and their friends in the media, I want this man confirmed and on the Supreme Court today. End this public lynching. End the leftist goal of destroying this man because they don’t agree with his judicial philosophy. The Republican Senators need to grow spines and do what is right. Vote to confirm Kavanaugh and tell the Democrats where to go.
